Storm damage is a documentation job before it is a roofing job. We photographed every slipped and cracked tile in place before touching anything, recorded the wind data for the date from the nearest Met Office station, and noted the mortar bedding that had never been mechanically fixed. That last point matters: an insurer will look hard at whether the roof met BS 5534 before the wind arrived.

We met the loss adjuster on the scaffold rather than sending photographs and hoping. The scope that came back covered the two slopes the evidence supported. We do not tell homeowners what an insurer will pay, and we do not handle the claim for them.

We are not regulated claims handlers and do not act as loss assessors. Documenting damage is not the same as negotiating a settlement, and we only do the first.
