Standing seam panels on concealed clips, run full length from ridge to eave so there is no lap across the slope to leak.
How it works
The seam is the whole point. Panels clip to the deck rather than being face-fixed, so nothing penetrates the water plane and the panel is free to move as it warms. A 10 metre aluminium panel grows about 5 mm between a January night and a July afternoon; a face-fixed roof fights that movement and loses at the fixing.
We roll panels to length on site rather than lapping stock lengths. That costs a day of setting up and removes every horizontal joint from the slope, which is where a standing seam roof normally fails first.
A standing seam roof needs its expansion designed at the eaves, not assumed. Fixed at the ridge, floating at the eaves, every time.
